The world of visual is a vast one. New technology keeps coming out so fast, it’s hard to keep up with it. Techniques that used to get your from point A to B become depreciated and don’t work their magic like they used to. What do you do when you get stuck? If you’re like me, you don’t really have much hair left to pull out. Screaming works, sort of, but it might make your neighbors worry about you a bit. Luckily, you don’t have to resort to that since there are lots of resources to help answer your questions as they come up.
I’ve listed some of my favorite sites below that I reach out to when I’m stuck. Yep, even us experts need a helping hand from time to time. These sites have dedicated question-and-answer forums, where you can post a problem you’re having. Give as much detail as possible, including the operating system, program you’re working with and a couple of screenshots won’t hurt either. Before you know it, you’ll get responses with good, intuitive directions to help you overcome the difficulty you’re faced with.
If you’re brand new to a topic or software app and you feel completely intimidated by it, I highly recommend Lynda.com and Adobe. They are great resources that offer video-based training. Adobe videos focus on learning the ins and outs of their applications. Lynda covers a wide variety of topics that are hosted by experts in their respective fields.
